SSI Night Diving — Explore the Black Sea After Dark

The Black Sea transforms completely after dark. Nocturnal species come out to hunt, bioluminescence creates unique light shows, and the night fauna offers a spectacle you simply cannot see during the day. The SSI Night Diving & Limited Visibility specialty gives you the techniques and equipment to safely explore this parallel world, at ALPHAMARIN Dive Center Constanța.

What you will learn

• Entry and exit procedures in darkness

• Use of primary and backup underwater torches

• Communication with your dive buddy in limited visibility

• Night navigation — compass and natural references in the dark

• Identification of nocturnal species specific to the Black Sea

Programme structure

1. 5 academic sessions — complete theory via the SSI digital platform

2. 2 night dives — exploring the Black Sea after dark, to 30m depth

Participation requirements

• SSI Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent)

• Minimum age: 10 years

The SSI Night Diving specialty counts towards Advanced Open Water Diver and Master Diver ratings. Night dives in the waters of Constanța are an unforgettable experience — the underwater landscape after dark is completely different from anything you know from daytime diving.
